MERIT OPEN (05.11-10.11’24)
„Slavia Backgammon Club“ got represented at „Merit Open“ by Bogidar Iliev, Kristian Mitov, Rosen Stoyanov, Zlatina Petrova, Milen Angelov and Nikolay Stoyanov. It was a good tournament for the club, with Milen Angelov playing in the final, Bogidar Iliev making it to Top 10 and Rosen Stoyanov ending up 4th in the intermediate category.
MALTA OPEN (30.10-03.11’24)
Bogidar Iliev and Zlatina Petrova joined "Malta Open". Bogidar Iliev ended up 3th in the SJP.
BELGRADE OPEN (09.10-13.10’24)
Kristian Mitov, Yordan Yordanov, Zlatina Petrova, Rosen Stoyanov and Bogidar Iliev represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at the 4th edition of „Belgrade Open“, that was also the 8th tournament from the „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ series. Bogidar Iliev ended up 3th and Zlatina Petrova finished on the 5th position, after being undefeated in the first 6 „Swiss System“ matches. Zlatina Petrova got the prize for the highest ranked lady during the tournament and Bogidar Iliev was runner-up in speed.
TRANSYLVANIA OPEN (13.09-15.09’24)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova and Milen Angelov participated in the 7th tournament from the "Balkan Backgammon Tour" series. Milen Angelov won the SJP title.
WORLD DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP (11.08-15.08’24)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“, being the only Bulgarian team participating in the „World Doubles Championship“. They made it to the 2nd elimination round and ended up on the 9th position.
BACKGAMMON FESTIVAL (10.08-16.08’24)
Bogidar Iliev was the only player representing the club at the "Backgammon Festival". He won the 1st place in the SJP.
NEU-ISENBURG OPEN (29.06-30.06’24)
Bogidar Iliev and Zlatina Petrova represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ in Germany.
AQUAPARK OPEN (14.06-16.06’24)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev participated in the 1st ever "Aquapark Open". Bogidar Iliev made it to the SJP semifinal.
SLAVIA OPEN: THE 21-SYNROME (10.03-10.06’24)
Rory Pascar (USA) is the 2024 „Slavia Open“ champion. After being a runner-up in the first edition in 2018 and semifinalist in 2021, this year Rory did climb „The 21-Syndrome“ mountain by beating Elias Kritikos (NOR) in the final by 21:15. During the seasons Rory has won 20 wins out of 26 matches, which means 77% win rate. For a 2nd time, after 2023, the champion comes from USA. This year 167 players, representing 40 nations, have competed in the tournament. Our official partner „Stream Team“ broadcasted in livestreams 9 matches. MOSTAR OPEN (31.05-02.06’24)
Milen Angelov, Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev travelled all the way to Mostar for participating in the 5th "Balkan Backgammon Tour" tournament. Together with many Balkan players, including representatives of the Bosnian backgammon clubs "Zrinjski", "Vatrogasac", "Stari Grad" and "Velež", as well as "Beograd Backgammon Club", "Vardar Backgammon Club" and "Zagreb Backgammon Club", we celebrated the "Slavia Backgammon Club" 22nd birthday.
ISTAVDER ANNIVERSARY (22.04-28.04’24)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Rosen Stoyanov, Edvard Apazyan, Hristo Yosifov and Kristian Mitov participated at „Istavder Anniversary“, the 4th „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament. Bogidar Iliev made it to the semifinals in the consolation.
LOUTRAKI GRAND PRIX (17.04-21.04’24)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" in the 3th "Balkan Backgammon Tour" tournament. They made a history, becoming the first couple since 2011 to win both the main tournament and the intermediate category. Bogidar Iliev also won the "Balkan Backgammon Tour" 1st place.
NOVI PAZAR OPEN (12.04-14.04’24)
Bogidar Iliev and Zlatina Petrova travelled to Serbia, for participating in the 2nd „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament.
MONTENEGRO GRAND PRIX (19.03-24.03’24)
Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev, Hristo Yosifov and Edvard Apazyan represented the club in Montenegro. Bogidar Iliev got to the undefeated last 4 and at the end he finished in Top 10 in both main tournament and last chance. This was the 1st tournament in the new "Balkan Backgammon Tour" season.
HONG KONG WEEKLY (27.02’24)
Bogidar Iliev and Zlatina Petrova joined the weekly tournament in Hong Kong, as well as many of the „Macao Open“ participants. The two of them reached the final but since it was long after midnight already, they decided to split the first place.
MACAO OPEN (23.02-25.02’24)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at the first ever "Macao Open". Bogidar Iliev made it to Top 8 in the main tournament, while Zlatina Petrova ended up in the Top 4 in the cubeless category. Bogidar Iliev also won the DMP tournament, getting a beautiful special board.
ISTANBUL OPEN (12.01-14.01’24)
The new year started in Istanbul with the last „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament for the 2023 season. The club was presented by Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Edvard Apazyan and Hristo Yosifov.
CROATIA OPEN (8.12-10.12’23)
Another very strong tournament for "Slavia Backgammon Club". Only 3 players presened the club, Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev and Olga Sladkarova but they came back home with 7 trophies. Zlatina Petrova was the main tournament runner-up and "Balkan Backgammon Tour" winner. In the semifinal she beat Bogidar Iliev, who finished 3th in the tournament, getting the 2nd place for the "Balkan Backgammon Tour". Olga Sladkarova was the runner-up in the last chance. Zlatina Petrova won the trophy for the highest ranked lady during the tournament and Olga Sladkarova took the 2nd prize in the same competition. A tournament before the end of the "Balkan Backgammon Tour" season, Bogidar Iliev was unreachable on the top with over 200 points.
EDIRNE OPEN (25.11-26.11’23)
Edvard Apazyan, Stanislav Stoynov and Velin Trendafilov did participate in the tournament in Edirne. Velin Trendafilov ended up at the 3th position.
CYPRUS OPEN (14.11-19.11’23)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented the club at "Cyprus Open". Unlike the previous year, this time the results were not that good.
MERIT OPEN (07.11-12.11’23)
Milen Angelov, Bogidar Iliev, Rosen Stoyanov, Zlatina Petrova, Stanislav Stoynov and Nikolay Stoyanov represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at „Merit Open“. Milen Angelov ended up in Top 10 and Bogidar Iliev made it to Top 17.
OLTENIA OPEN (27.10-29.10’23)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Rosen Stoyanov, Milen Angelov, Edvard Apazyan, Daniel Zahariev and Kunka Grohleva attended "Oltenia Open" in Craiova. This was a good tournament for "Slavia Backgammon Club". Bogidar Iliev was the tournament champion and "Balkan Backgammon Tour" winner, Rosen Stoyanov finished 7th and played the last chance final. Bogidar Iliev and Rosen Stoyanov got to the doubles 1/4-Final. Bogidar Iliev also topped the "Balkan Backgammon Tour", with two tournaments to go. Our friends from Veliko Tarnovo and Pleven Rumen Rikevski and Vladislav Kasovski made it to the doubles final and DMP final.

BEOGRAD OPEN (12.10-15.10’23)
11 „Slavia Backgammon Club“ players started the battle for the 2023 „Beograd Open“ title. Those were Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Milen Angelov, Rosen Stoyanov, Nikolay Stoyanov, Kristian Mitov, Jordan Penev, Yordan Yordanov, Stanislav Stoynov, Olga Sladkarova and Velin Trendafilov. Jordan Penev was the best of the group, ending up at the 5th position in the main tournament. Kristian Mitov had a great debut, winning the beginners tournament and reaching the doubles semifinal, partnering Olga Sladkarova. Our good friend from Varna Rosen Atanasov won the doubles title.
TRANSYLVANIA OPEN (21.09-24.09’23)
Bogidar Iliev and Zlatina Petrova represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at "Transylvania Open". They played in the 4th round of the main tournament and Zlatina Petrova got the win, eliminating Bogidar Iliev. He got his revenge by winning the SuperSpeed competition, that was played with the original timing.
DONJI VAKUF OPEN (15.09-17.09’23)
Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev and Olga Sladkarova represented the club at „Donji Vakuf Open“. Bogidar Iliev made it to the eliminations but did not menage to qualify to the final rounds.
BADASS DICE ROLLERS CLUB BURGAS (02.09’23)
On the 2nd of September 2023 the 2nd Bulgarian backgammon club was officially founded. A group of enthusiasts in the city of Burgas established "Badass Dice Rollers Club". The motor and leader is Yanko Todorov and the first elected club president is Dimitar Grigorov. "Slavia Backgammon Club" members, as well as players from all over the country, were honored to be invited to participate in the celebrations. After the official part and exchanging presents and best wishes, the two clubs played a match on 6 boards. The home team was presented by Yanko Todorov, Dimitar Grigorov, Ivan Tishev, Bogdana Georgieva, Stanko Karachorski and Ivan Petrov. Our line up was Bogidar Iliev, Milen Angelov, Rosen Stoyanov, Zlatina Petrova, Eli Vasileva and Blagoy Kavrakov. The final score was 3:3. We wish our friends from Burgas a lot of luck in their future backgammon projects!
SKOPJE OPEN (21.08-27.08’23)
Bogidar Iliev, Milen Angelov, Edvard Apazyan, Hristo Yosifov and Zlatina Petrova represented our club at „Skopje Open“ 2023. Bogidar Iliev and Milen Angelov, together with Yanko Todorov, Georgi Chokalov and Rosen Penchev, did play for Team Bulgaria in the „WBGF World Team Championship“, finishing at the 7th position after being the only undefeated team during the group stage.
VARNA OPEN (22.07-23.07’23)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Velin Trendafilov and Stanislav Stoynov represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at the 2nd "Varna Open". Bogidar Iliev made it to the 3th place at the traditional tavla tournament.
A TO JAZZ FESTIVAL BACKGAMMON CLUB PRACTICE (08.07’23)
We had a club consultation practice, with transcribing and analysing, during the fantastic „A To Jazz Festival“.
FRENCH RIVIERA CHALLENGE (15.06-18.06’23)
Stanislav Stoynov represented the club in France. He got to the 3th place in the intermediate tournament and he was also runner-up in the DMP challenge.
AMSTERDAM OPEN (11.06’23)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented the club at the monthly tournament in Amsterdam. They played in the very first round and Zlatina Petrova got the win.
21 YEARS (04.06’23)
On the 2nd of June "Slavia Backgammon Club" turned 21. Two days later we had a special birthday weekly tournament. The name of the winner is Jordan Kirchev, who beat in the final Teodor Nedev.
MOSTAR OPEN (19.05-21.05’23)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at „Mostar Open“, around the beautiful Buna River.
ISTAVDER ANNIVERSARY (26.04-30.04’23)
A record number of 15 "Slavia Backgammon Club" players, including 4 debutants, joined "Istavder Anniversary", that was also the 4th "Balkan Backgammon Tour 2023" tournament. This time our players did not reach the final rounds in the main tournament, with Rosen Stoyanov being the only one to enter the Top 100. Bogidar Iliev got to the consolation final, where he lost against the 2012 world champion Nevzat Dogan (DEN). The club was presented in the team competition by Bogidar Iliev, Milen Angelov, Rosen Stoyanov, Nikola Milev and Nikolay Stoyanov. 2 teams joined the doubles competition, Zlatina Petrova & Milen Angelov, as well as Rosen Stoyanov & Blagoy Kavrakov.
SLAVIA OPEN: THE 21-SYNROME (01.02-20.04’23)
Joseph Russell (USA) is the new „Slavia Open“ champion. The 1989 world champion beat the current WBIF world team champion Umur Aras (TUR) by 21:15. On his way to the final Joe won difficult matches against very strong opponents like Mislav Kovacic and Juergen Orlowski. Joe Russell became the first ever „Slavia Open“ champion, that doesn’t come from a Balkan country. This was the 2nd time when in „Slavia Open“ final players from Turkey and USA played against each other, after 2018 first edition when Arda Fındıkoğlu beat Rory Pascar. 138 players representing 29 countries and 5 continents participated in the tournament’s 6th edition. „Stream Team“ and „BG-BG Studio“ covered matches from each round and the final was broadcasted by both studios in English and Bulgarian. Congratulations, Mr. Joe Russell!
ISTAVDER ANNIVERSARY (26.04-30.04’23)
Milen Angelov, Nikola Milev, Blagoy Kavrakov, Rosen Stoyanov, Nikolay Stoyanov, Julian Tuleshkov, Velin Trendafilov, Stanislav Stoynov, Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Kunka Grohleva, Daniel Zahariev, Ivaylo Zahariev, Hristo Yosifov and Edvard Apazyan are for the moment the "Slavia Backgammon Club" players that are registered for the 4th "Balkan Backgammon Tour" tournament "Istavder Annivdrsary", that will be held in Istanbul, Turkey. Over 550 players have already registered, including 41 Bulgarian participants.
MONTENEGRO GRAND PRIX (29.03-02.04’23)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Stanislav Stoynov, Edvard Apazyan and Hristo Yosifov did represent „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at „Montenegro Grand Prix“, the 3th „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ step, organised in Budva, Montenegro. Bogidar Iliev won the 2nd Super Jackpot.
ARAB OPEN (17-19.03’23)
Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev and Rosen Stoyanov represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at the fantastic tournament in Jounieh, Lebanon. All 3 players played in the backgammon tournament and Bogidar Iliev and Rosen Stoyanov participated in the Tapa Tournament, called in Lebanon "Mahbouse". Bogidar Iliev got to the 1/4-final stage. A lot more backgammon activities were organised in the days before and after the tournament.

Bogidar Iliev was the only „Slavia Backgammon Club“ player at „Loutraki Grand Prix“ in Loutraki, Greece. This was the 2nd „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament for Season 2023.
NOVI PAZAR OPEN (03-05.03’23)
"Slavia Backgammon Club" was well presented in the first 2023 "Balkan Backgammon Tour" tournament in Novi Pazar, Serbia. Yordan Yordanov, Jordan Penev, Velin Trendafilov, Rosen Stoyanov, Olga Sladkarova, Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev participated in the tournament, as Olga Sladkarova made her debut at a backgammon tournament, winning 3 matches. Bogidar Iliev ended up on the 5th positions. In the days before the tournament a team building was organised and part of the team did enjoy skiing together at Kopaonik Ski Resort.

Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev and Rosen Stoyanov represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at „Istanbul Open“ in Istanbul, Turkey, in the last 8th „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament for Season 2022.
CROATIAN OPEN (09-11.12’22)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at "Croatian Open" in Zagreb, Croatia. This was the 7th "Balkan Backgammon Tour" tournament.
CYPRUS OPEN (16-20.11’22)
Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova and Milen Angelov represented „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at „Cyprus Open“ in Nikosia, Cyprus. Zlatina Petrova won the title in the ladies tournament and Bogidar Iliev finished on the 7th position in the main tournament.
MERIT OPEN (08-13.11’22)
Bogidar Iliev, Rosen Stoyanov, Milen Angelov, Edvard Apazyan and Hristo Yosifov represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" at "Merit Open" in Kyrenia, Cyprus. Milen Angelov reached the semifinal in the intermediate category last chance, so the tradition for our players to top the standings in this competition did continue.
OLTENIA OPEN (21-23.10’22)
Last weekend 8 „Slavia Backgammon Club“ players took a part at „Oltenia Open“, in Craiova, Romania. Those players were: Zlatina Petrova, Bogidar Iliev, Rosen Stoyanov, Stanislav Stoynov, Nikolay Stoyanov, Milen Angelov, Velin Trendafilov and Edvard Apazyan. Rosen Stoyanov took the 3th place in the main tournament, Milen Angelov got to the SuperJackpot final, and Bogidar Iliev & Zlatina Petrova reached the doubles 1/4-finals. In addition, for the sake of the whole team, Bogidar Iliev got the „Fairplay“ prize.
BEOGRAD OPEN (22-25.09’22)
9 "Slavia Backgammon Club" players did compete at "Belgrade Open" 2nd edition: Jordan Penev, Milen Angelov, Yordan Yordanov, Rosen Stoyanov, Bogidar Iliev, Zlatina Petrova, Nikolay Stoyanov, Stanislav Stoynov and Hristo Yosifov. Milen Angelov won the last chance, Bogidar Iliev won the SuperJackpot and played MegaJackpot final, Stanislav Stoynov played 1/4-final in both the main tournament and the SuperJackpot. Bogidar Iliev & Rosen Stoyanov made it to the doubles 1/4-final.
TRANSYLVANIA OPEN (15-18.09’22)
Bogidar Iliev played SuperSpeed final. The discipline created by himself and „Slavia Backgammon Club“ in 2019 was played with an extra second, instead of 7 seconds per move, the players had 8 seconds.
DONJI VAKUF OPEN (02-03.09’22)
Zlatina Petrova and Bogidar Iliev represented "Slavia Backgammon Club" last weekend at the very nice and emotional tournament in Donji Vakuf, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was a honor for us being personaly invited by Abaz Omeragić, tournament organiser and president of Bosna and Herzegovina Backgammon Federation. 66 players, representing 8 countries, joined the main tournament, that was a mix of Swiss System and Single Eliminations. Zlaty performed very well and she got 3 wins out of 5 matches. Bojo menaged to win 4 out of 5, but his opponents didn't do great enough, so it was only enough for the 10th position, with the top 8 players progressing to the single elimination rounds.
SKOPJE OPEN (04-08.05’22)
Bogidar Iliev was representing „Slavia Backgammon Club“ at the first ever „Balkan Backgammon Tour“ tournament. During the tournament Mr. Mislav Kovačić (Croatia) was declared a „Slavia Backgammon Club“ honorary member.
SLAVIA OPEN: THE 21-SYNROME (31.01-19.03’23)
Georgios Lazaris from Greece is The "Slavia Open" King this year. The first ever online world champion won the final by 21:16 against Michael Weidner from Germany. 87 players, representing 20 countries, did compete in the tournament. 12 matches were broadcasted live by "Stream Team" in English and by "BG-BG Studio" in Bulgarian. All videos can be found at "Slavia Backgammon Club" YouTube channel.
20 YEARS (04-05.06’22)
„Slavia Backgammon Club“ turned 20 on the 2nd of June. 2 tournaments, traditional tabla and backgammon, were organised on that weekend. Rosen Stoyanov beat Slavey Slaveev in the backgammon final, while Bogidar Iliev beat Svetlin Angelov in the traditional tabla final. Also, 20 vs 20 online player contest was organised in cooperation with WBIF and „Stream Team“. „Slavia Open All Stars“ won against „WBIF Dream Team“ by 14:6. All 20 matches can be found on „Slavia Backgammon Club“ YouTube channel.
